Er nýja textafræðin ný?
Þankar um gamla fræðigrein*
Abstract
In this paper the writer discusses some features of the so-called New Philology. He explaines how medieval Icelandic manuscripts try to distinguish between scribes, authors, compilers and commentators. In the opinion of the author it should be remembered that the so-called New Philology brings very little as a method to trained editors of Old Norse texts if they have been faithful to the principles of classical philology and if they have taken into account that each text should be put into its correct social and historical place.
